a few
words for the beginning and ending of all: i really dunno why it took so long (maybe it
will take even longer...). i was mostly totally demotivated and struggling
with the dragons and demons of daily life. also struggling with different
realities and some non-realities. well, life is hard sometimes and it was
and still is a fukken strange period in this shitty existence of my
entity. often i was really frustrated that i could not really get my shit
together, i even did not bother to answer the mail after a while, becuz there
was not much to write about a frustrated, depressed and totally fucked-up
life. and there is still not much to write about it, and that is a good
thing in some way. so, i try to get this fucker out by asap(or maybe next month)
but it will be done if the brown-yellowish dragon with green leather-suit does
not come around and wants to crush my skull...
some of the
stuff is not available anymore, some of the stuff maybe never existed, is out
of print, got lost in the last hurricane, was devoured by fred the lunatic
bull-terrier, in other words, also some addresses are out of date and the
persons maybe moved to other cities and finally started to have a decent
lifestyle with house, family, car and cats. so, don't blame me. try
to contact. but don't be disappointed if there is no answer. i hope
next gecko will be way more faster and really really heavily up-dated. but
normally i lack the time for such peanuts. ah, yes send me
peanuts.... next gecko won't be delayed i hope, but (daily)life(routine)
is such an energy-consuming bastard, so you never know...
Tapes are ruining my ears and financial situation
Urb Sound Systems (distributed by: virus distribution, Martina
Kedrova, Nam. Snp 35, 81100 Bratislava, Slovakia - witchmak@centrum.cz) is a 3-way
noise/experimental split between Exurbia, Urbanfailure (http://urbanfailure.szm.sk/) and Urbanox. Very interesting experimental music that might expand
your mind. From silent noise to breakbeat hectic you get the whole range. Also
available as CDr and you can order it from Gecko-address too.
Bruce Atchison (PoBox 188, Radway,
AB, T0A 2V0, Canada - ve6xtc@telusplanet.net - http://gideon.www2.50megs.com/) has now moved and all his stuff is
still available on tape and CDr, but he has not created any new electronic
music lately.
Maika Records (c/o Mbf, Postfach
2708, 8021 Zürich, Switzerlanth - nora.duester@gmx.net)
have a nice little compilationtape available with nice bands, that appeared in
some way on a maika-release: los tres lulus, zfk, die ministranten, hook,
marsvenus konfusion, ado, kleingebäck, custom drummer, third world planet, end
this scene, c+r, alien influence, monoblock b and nebulus. trash-pop and
more, also available from gecko-address itself.
Social Insecurity (social.insecurity@amserve.net) "futureless world demo" 5 sonx
in the vein of classic discharge-style with maybe a bit more metallic and
upspeeded approach, but pretty easy change of chorus/ verse and stuff.
Straight-forward music about all the anti-authoritarian shit and discomfort.
ClipUnzine (Zoran Jankovic RAX,
Titogradska 52, 36000 Kraljevo, Yugoslavia - izrodi@ptt.yu) has a very strange
tapecomp. to offer, to say the least: pagan future, b.b.f., cfs, pamba,
histerezis mozga, no choice!, mmc, karmakumulator-chaos absorber, minuti
ludila, random groups, sloseri il' necu da slusam and anhepi
wednzdejsz! experimental, noise and industrial till electro/grind.
Age of simulation: (istari@sozialistischer-plattenbau.org
- http://sozialistischer-plattenbau.org/index2.html)
don't know why, i fukken like this tape! 4 sonx of sampled dub, breakbeat
and maybe jungle? i don't care about the different styles, short and intense,
at least 3 sonx. lowFi super HiNoise. # yppasswdd daemons "beta version 0.6.2", bizarre
pop electronic tune, this is a c-46 tape. resellers: 2.50 EUR / customers: 4

NNY (fuck the bastards rec., pobox
97104, 08080 barcelona, x-pain) "don't
happy be worry": tape release of the great vinyl release of this
unfortunately defunct band that played some mixture of hectic headache and
grindy third world planet (no wonder..), good for us that they had an excellent
drummer with unique style (hooray for marylise). music for the
stressed-out hyperactive lunatics out there. at some stages pretty
free-jazz approach with a good sense of twisted humor. if there is a must,
then this is a must-have.
It lies within (pobox
23045, athens, 11210 greece) "surrounded
by evil, low on gas": really cool no-wave band from the ancient world
of civilisation. starts with some sombre tunes that remind me a bit of
cocteau twins, then next a song reminding me a bit day by day/ lost
world. inspiring music with female vocals and preserving the feeling of
really cool bands from the 80ies. pretty rocking stuff at some
stages. imagine joy division with female vocals played with punk approach
mixed with indie driving rock from the late 90ies. curious to hear more
stuff by this band.
KGB "Big brother is here tape" 15 trax, 44 mins. of
music free forms, hc, grind, electro, techno-acid, breakbeat, experimental, 6
trax with lyrics. 3$ or trade into electro/ experimental/ grindcore (no gore!)
from: KGB-NK, Amfissis 5, 26331, Patras, Greece.
Scrotum Records (Björn Liebmann,
Postfach 510118, 09044 Chemnitz, Germany) is another tapelabel that puts lot of
energy and spirit in his releases. Noiseoverdose vol. 1 with Reynols, Antenna
59, Expose your Eyes, Neandertal, Chink, Angelica Rosenthal, Kadef, Deison,
Ames Sanglantes, The Violet Grind, HumanExtermination Project, Daruin, Arktos,
Hermit, Il Mestruo delle puttane, Tender Love, Mizuko, Raise Hell. From the
mixture most of the projects are enough interesting, especially because not everything
is harsh, you also get more relaxed antimusick. # Jalopaz/ Group B "Red Green Earth" is a pretty
relaxed collaboration with violin, electronics and other bits of trippy shit,
creates a pretty avantguardesque mood. Nice to look at although it is sparse
layout and nice to listen to without being superficial. # Although Björn was
totally satisfied with this recordings and proudly told me that he did nothing
so heavy and coherent like this before I must say that I preferred the Raise
Hell vs. Alien Audio split tape to the Kummieband & glebstoff fullength,
especially because i am not really into harsh sounds at all, must say that i am
losing the patience after a couple of seconds if it is not really totally
extreme and sick, so sorry Björn, K&G has a really nice name but an average
soundtrack, but Raise Hell despite of the blackmetalname is way more
interesting especially becuz it is not predictable what is going to happen in
the next moment and also becuz it is softer in sounds, and Alien Audio has some
great moments too. Get in contact with this dedicated guy and ask about the
huge list. # hermit "live in
slovenia '99" c90 - good dose of canadian humor and feedbacking
pulsating noisewalls corroded by painfull screams, might resemble a bit to some
bastard noise to give you a slight direction, but extended version, slowly
progressing with occasional noise-bursts. on the b-side there's a
collaboration with the slovenian noisecore-posing act mastikator. nice and
nifty bag possibly made out of an airbed, limited to 46. # speaking of limited
edition, björn gave me personally a 4-way split with kadef, kummieband &
glebstoff, use your pain and napalmed. Surely sold out and you missed the
package with wallpaper and the cool projects with cult-status. # again a very
cool release on scrotum: the nautilus deconstruction vs. militiact “vernunft und tragödie”
dealing with the heavy topic of suicide. Consists in wailing screams and
painfull moods, but creating a pretty intimate atmosphere. Comes with german
explanations and thoughts, a tape that you cannot play and wrapped in a nice
trashbag-recycling-bit-art. Limited to 20 but it should be available in larger
quantities to tell the truth outside, eh he! * received also another tape: "tapes have more personality"
with fuck the fact, the nautilus deconstruction, a.s.d., error, soviet
subliminal seduction, maximal, humanextermination project, lim. to 21. and with
some bits of destroyed CD i guess. although it was also open to other styles
most of projects play a wide range of mean industrial-grind to experimental
soundscapes. nice little booklet and nice projects to contact.
Debila Records (Nejc Pockar,
Kregarjeva 1, 8250 Brezice, Slovenia) has a short tape full of Ames Sanglantes/
Sist En 343: AS makes a weird cut-up noise harsh collage with lot of changes in
sound and some screams distorted and voice feedbacks. Short attack also from
Sist En 343 with pulsating industrial machinery feedback orgy.
Red Neon Tapes (Patrick Parent, 66
Avenue Albert Elisabeth, 1400 Nivelles, Belgium - redneon@kynet.be) the moth "pummel box", a guy talking
and singing partly out-of-tune non/sense and banal texts to reduced maybe casio
or homeorgan sounds and bossa nova and other nice drum patterns. it has a
simple beauty and freshness. 90 mins. of music that exists without much of
effects and technical help apart from basic stuff.
Parkinson/ Aghast (Broken Noise, c/o
Jimbo, 12 JLN Lembah 24, TMN Desa Jaya, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malysia - brokenvision@hotmail.com or All
System Fail, c/o Izumi Kubo, 35, Sannaicho, Sennyuji, Higashiymaku, Kyoto,
605-0977, Japan - hatethem@stones.com)
sometimes really kick ass with their grindy crust, but i simply did not know
what was going on most of the time, there were some lyrics written down that
never fitted to what was sung, so i was confused all the time.
Breathless (Anak Liar Rec., c/o Mat,
12 JLN Tasek 25, Bandar Seri Alam, 81750 Masai Johor, Malaysia - anakliar@yahoo.com) a re-released
Hcpunkcomp. from asian bands and that is the only interesting aspect of
it. Despite of the line-ups of the bands there is not much information, no
contacts (I think most of the bands don't exist anymore!) and especially no
lyrics. Looks professional but in the end it is a bit boring.
Negative Trip (Purple Tree rec.
Seestrasse 148, 8820 Wädenswil, Switzerlanth) "EU". Strange mixture of some loops and hip-hop grooves,
sometimes dance-music orientated electronica, but mostly a soundtrack for the
daily horror in your head. The tape version is much better than the CDr in
presentation. # suburban skulls "tenebre
491" (rim3@bluewin.ch) great
groovy slow hiphopstyle mix of samples and nice patterns, soundscapes and
voices. if you use a sample from the trumpet melody in fellinis' picture
"la strada", you must be on the winners' side. i use it often
when i am remixing and recycling contemporary music when i need an interesting
chilled-out background.
Third World Planet/ Ultra Vires
(distributed by: TKA, PoBox 158, 34-400 Nowy Targ, Poland) originally released
by BreakEven, while TWP have way more power with their nihilist grind-noize attack,
Ultra Virus are more unprecise and chaotic with their @-punk. Nice presentation
of the lyrics also in polish, so you know where to take polish language lessons
now.
Oranges (Un)musik (Arkadiy Lepehin,
Molodezhnaya 1-5, Gusev, Kaliningrad, 238030 Russia) is Green's small
tapelabel, a guy who is also into mailart and travelling. Followers "Neverfly" is okay melodic
punk-rock, but nothing really special, you can sing along to their tunes. I did
like the H End "Whitetape"
more: guitars, effects, tapes and an all in all psychedelic soundscape.
Owl Rec. (Jason Vizmanos, 2555 W
Catalpa Ave. Apt#212, Chicago IL, 60625, USA) has out the Death by Noise comp.
c-90 with: Ehi, Grub, Praying for Oblivion, Herk, f2rc, Outermost, Ja, Wendy y
los huevos Rancheros, Sonic Disorder, Insomnia, Neandertal, Satan's God, Zombie
Dead, KGB, Noise Migranaaa, and it lies within. $2(US)/$3 (w) or trade. In
the meanwhile (well, during a year I guess...) Jason has been really active
releasing stuff and most possibly is still interetsted to do splits and
compilations, so send your stuff and ask him directly what is going on. At the
moment I have a couple of tapes by Insomnia here: Insomnia "Mental Combat" (early noise-collages), Insomnia "Poisoning thyself",
Insomnia/ Praying for Oblivion collaboration and the Insomnia/ Neue Migrene
split. Most of the stuff is pretty varied I think Jason uses lots of different
soundscapes and keeps up intensity sometimes. Also available are some tapes by
Jason's project Insomnia and a split with Herk. "Birds of Prey" is a really good experimental/ industrial
and even a bit electronic sampler with really good projects like Sikhara,
Stream Angel, Fosc, KGB, Ehi and many more. Unfortunately you just get the
tracklist and contact list, so it is not so informative at all, but you can
write to the projects at least...
Arbeit macht Fleisch (Timo Oertelt,
Buttmannnstrasse 14, 13357Berlin, Germany) released the Bonehouse/ G.F.P.M.
split: Bonehouse play nice metallic hardcore and that's it. GFPM are way more
aggressive with their mean grind, but i did not really like their lyrics
(pretty average for this genre!), don't see a purpose to sing about dildos and
sodom and gommorrha, just watch a porno flick and shut the fuck up!!
Anti Everything (22 Mallory #1,
Hampton VA, 23663, USA - http://www.ratward.com - http://www.thenofi.com ) sent me lot of
stuff years ago and most of the stuff is not available anymore, the items were:
A sonic Deterrent/ Monobrain splittape; The Violet Grind/ A Sonic Deterrent
split, Noise Conglomerate Vol. 1 comp. (very very good) ; A Sonic Deterrent/
Prurient and some CD and vinyl. Most of the stuff that is available at the
moment in limited quantities is released as CDr. So get in contact and ask: existnoise@aol.com.
cold-coffein-addict, (c-c-a/Jörn pf
100623, 07706 Jena, Germany - http://www.neufnoir.purespace.de/cca.html
) is a very active and interesting tapelabel with lot of tapes available: human
kind of shit/ the nautilus deconstruction c60: both soundartists really kick
ass, but nautilus deconstruction is really topping the shit with a really
outrageous and genious cutup-collage of concrete and feedback noise, eastgerman
cheasy singer-songwriterballads and many millions of miracles more. a must
have. not only becuz i said so. the cover is artifact too. #
Böswillige Programmieranweisung: 60 mins. Of endlessly repeated loops, pretty
noisy and not really annoying, but hellish monotonous and like the name
(translation something like: mean program command?) suggests there is a
threatening alien intelligence lurking somewhere in the
background. Nothing really special, but still worth a listen or two. #
Tremor "Kuscheln" distorted
and extremely modulated maybe drum/basspatterns as source or something, slowly
but steadily changing. Musick in order to switch off the time axis. Maybe
also without much intention except from experimentation? # "Don't forget and don't forgive" Antifascist
compilation, many (anti-)music-styles. Seperate DIN-A5-booklet. Contributions
by: AleXdee, Antenna 59, C14Methode, Decimation of authority, Flagsmasher, God
only word, N. D. Collapse, Nail, Nave, Oropax, Taxi Driver 666, Verge on
reason, XotoX, Zonenkiner # "Don't
forget and don't forgive pt.2" this time with more projects that
really make a statement against fascism: Antifascist comp.

Sakamoto "works for percussion"
c90: sideproject of wolfthroat from dresden, maybe using effect-processed
extreme-reverb contactmiked metalplates, cymbals and bells plus classical music
as basistrack.partially great unstructured noisebursts with short pauses of
stoic silence, symphonic japnoise? pretty diverse and interesting stuff,
above average, sounds sometimes like distorted gamelan music. # fear of
myself/ zweifel: andy of xotox/neufNoir fame is behind this sombre dark electro
project. a bit of monk-chanting, driving beats and a gothic touch of sounds. good
that cool guys like an/dy do such nice and unpretentious electronic music that
is fun to listen to. some of the stuff is noisy industrial like, so you
get a wide range of sounds. zweifel is way more unaccessible with
dark& delayed soundscapes using metalplates, scrap and mainly echoed
percussion & minidisc sample-loops. patrick calls it emonoize and is a
very political and caring guy, although you find in his booklet slogans like "for the destruction of
civilization". booklet consists of recycled already used
xeroxcopy waste paper, so this is a step closer to earth liberation (still
misanthropic though..)
humankind of shit/ nautilus
deconstruction collab. part 2 c60: this is heavy and not so funny
really. industrial sludge meets delayed and desorientated melancholic
guitars. hard to characterize but surely nice if you listen to it in your
tiny cottage, if you're sitting on your fake polarbear fur carpet sipping a cup
of hot chocolate. i would say desire or even longing comes close to
it. from: bert sergon, friedenstrasse 77a, 02959 schleife or micha
barthel, esplanade 30a, 13187 berlin, germanie.
"audible kode" (http://www.phantomtourist.com ) is a
very nice tape full of short samples of different files that have been played
like they were soundfiles. this surely is a good source for noisy and
really strange samples, if you want to enhance your boring average
synthsoundtrax. johan berghaus is the master behind this jewel and side b
consists of 4 sonx composed with the material from the a-side. a journey
into unknown fields of digital sounds, mastered on computer and put out on
tape, so this is DDA quality. ask for more: berghaus@phantomtourist.com

a drunken singer who is singing about taking a shit or going to work totally

Lithuania – ugnies@takas.lt – http://www.omnitel.net/dangus) poor darius, he sent me ages ago
this very cool tape and my PR-agent never replied and traded stuff with him.
But I must say that I really like his (salikapalikau) trilogy called “agnozija”, hypnotic
soundscapes, with synths, pulsating basses, high-pitched occasional feedbacks,
flanged& phased parts, symphonic areas, dark drones, 3 tracks lasting
around 10 mins. Each with slow and progressive changes. For sure this
Lithuanian soundartist knows how to mix and especially when to change that it
does not get boring. Intelligent and creative, relaxing and inspiring trip. GG
is a bit more into industrial realms, constant basstones, distant voices with
delays and the feeling that modern communication is based on overload of
information and distorted and vague semantics. Much more monotonous (in a good
way) than Salikapalikau.

Kummerlige Forhold "Høg over

sounds pretty like distorted breakbeat industrial madness but then you also get
the harsh noise hell treatment. Lot of variation and high-standard of playing

Vegas Recordings, (POBox 45, Mirfield, W.Yorks, WF14 9YQ, England - vegasdiscs@yahoo.com) Third Lung "New York" sounds a bit Sonic
Youthish, but more groovy and the straighter songs, but it is much more
"electronic" with loops and heavier monotonous at some stages.
Noiserock for bulldozers. Mr. C. is actually working on his next cd at the
moment, which is nearly done, he's putting it out under the name The Stockholm

carries on in a similar vein to that of Third Lung.

The Violet skies of Autumn (Michael
Wüest, Ländli, 6110 Wolhusen, Switzerland) presents "1997-98 When Life was labour lost" 6 songs of isolated
and melancholy keyboard music with a total length of 90 mins. Pretty
melancholic tunes, but in the end it gets a bit too tiring. Due to direct
recording it is just more or less uni-sono-stuff, so a bit sparse, but still
interesting enough if you want to dedicate your time to it. Duration of the
songs is also a bit too long sometimes... 4$.

Re-sisters (Skuld-Releases, Malmsheimerstr. 14, 71272 Renningen,
Germany) "Riots not Diets"
7": is an excellent release by this now defunct anarch@-feministpunk band
that combined aggressive music with intelligent radical feminist lyrics and an
offensive performance, they had a big impact on the confused audience. The
booklet is very well-done with great artwork and collages, all the fine lyrics
presented and a good essay about eating disorder/ anorexia nervosa. Sometimes I
hated them for their music, becuz they were practising like berserks in our
squatted rehearsalroom at the RGH (rip), but i love them for what they stand
for.
Mexican Power Authority "100

Devil Rock Recordings (Bri, PoBox 187, Leeds, LS6 1LH, UK -
szandor66@hotmail.com) John Holmes/ Canvas split 7": JH is very dark
and if you have a depressive phase do not read the lyrics. It's all about
nothingness and the senselessness. With metallic thrashcore. Canvas reminded me
a bit of more metallic Jesus Lizard, Helmet with more breaks. Stupid
comparison, but i am a stupid reviewer.
War Toys "Nachzehrer"
(LOI Rec. c/o Martin Niemitz, Hildastrasse 27, 79102 Freiburg, Germany - Stefan
Vetter, Sieglindenstr. 26, 86152 Augsburg, Germany) seem to dedicate this
7" to good old Ronald McDonald. At least they sing a nice song about him.
They also make clear that they don't eat dead meat. Bavarians that kick ass and
use their brain, that might not often be found in this region...(oh, this
stupid generalizations again...). Bernd did a nice layoutwork and this comes in
a nice silkscreened fabric bag.
Strongly opposed rec. (Flurweg 29, 2504 Biel, Switzerland Earth) was

hatred and a guitarsound I immediately fell in love with. Once again: a must! *
Domo Arigato "Soymilk+Punkrock"

Jeniger (Jeniger, Hebebrandtstr. 2a,

7" with 5 sonx of boombastic emocrust of this unfortunately defunct
band from northern deutschlanth. Kay gave me this 7" after their gig in
the Koepi when I was there just for "holidays". So this 7" is of
a slighter more importance to me than the average 7". They did a
farewell(?)-LP, that will be reviewed in the next Gecko. I am too lazy and it

Wojczech/ Cut your Hair split 7" with the recordings they did on their
Brasil-tour. Wojczech thrashes down like always and ever their crustgrindtunes
with intense energy and negative apocalytic lyrics. Cut your hair plays some
sort of emoish hardcore, their songs are more relaxed and slower. Nice orange
sleeve and lyricsheets.
Attack Rec. (PSF 350541, 10214 berlin, germany) Ugly Aesthetics 7":
it is always hard to describe music of friends. In any case it is appropriate
to be nice and to find nice words, but these friends don't give a fuck about
it, I guess. Musically I would dare to say it is not extremely thrilling
(average), but the presentation and the text you can also read in english too
are sharp like machinegun-volley, pretty cynical and mani(a)c. Also the
pictures of trans-gender nature and other natures are cool.

information about animal-rights (written in obscure slovenian language) and a

Krankheit der Jugend (KrankeKunstVerlag, c/o Tim
Siebert, Hauptstr.75, 74206 Bad Wimpfen, Germany - kkv@hit.online.de) "Ilmenau/ Bad Rappenau" a very long psychedelic experience,
the intonation of two guys travelling away from a typical boring and dull
smalltown going to such exciting places like Goa or Spain. distant voices mixed
with long and groovy passages. Musically a long journey through different
styles and moods, mostly instrumental apart from the samples between the songs.
Reminding the good old days of the late 60ies and especially 70ies. This german
band usually also experiments lot with literature and performance. KKV-NR 020,

- 17 of really varied electronic music with lot of voice samples and changes

Günter Schroth "Barcode Music". I can honestly say that the world of
barcodes is definitely not my world, but günters world of barcode controlled
sounds is way more familiar to me. scanning through cans, tins, sheets
full of barcodes günter creates via programs and synths a pretty chaotic but
still relaxed soundworld. On this Cd you get 4 compositions (so maybe that sonx
are reproduced in a live-situation?), the remaining 5 sonx are performances and
improvisations, like "vinyl-scan"
that is a collaboration with vinyl-turntable-artist Claus van Bebber that
offers even more variation in sounds (if that is possible?) and "voice-scan" finally brings
you back to reality with a very nice improvised dialog between Günters
programmed scan-sounds and Franziska Quandts fully virtuos use of her
beautifull voice and singing (multi-tracked), which surely is my favourite
song. This might also be interesting for you, although the digital world never
had much fascination for me (i am a really old-fashioned guy maybe) günters
conceptual but still free aproach to work with barcode as
"soundsource" left me at least astonished about the wide field of
possibilities. 15 Euro.

Cock E.S.P. (c/o Elyse Perez, Box
141, 151 1st Ave., New York, NY 10003 - cockesp@cockesp.com - http://www.cockesp.com ) "We mean it this time": maybe
you should have an access to that peculiar american humor, becuz Cock ESP is
much about it. It starts from the cover that shows Emil and Matt posing as
really cheasy death-metalheads with painted faces like the good old Kiss (you
even get the skull on a stick!). either you like Cock ESPs partly obscene humor
or you don't like it. Good quality trash shit harsh noise. What do you expect
from a band that is "the pride of
north american noise"? * "Menasha
Red Light District": No voltage-controlled oscillators were harmed in
the recording of the disc, like they promised. This is old-school stuff with
huge overdrive pedals, contact-mics and metalplates and over-distorted cheap
microphonefeedback and screams. Maybe american noise culture with an obsession
for trash b-movies and pornography too, i guess.
Noisebludgeon (PoBox 12-345, East Broadway, Vancouver, BC - V5T TW5,
Canada - http://www.noisebludgeon.com
) Hospital/ Bastard Noise: Good dose of frequencies, syrens, feedbacks,
electronic storms and distorted fragments. Unstructured and fast-changing
noise, but also slowly progressing and intensity-increasing soundscapes.
Bastard Noise is very long delayed journey through wailing walls of sounds and
bass-grumblings, soundtrack for a very serious sci-fi film about an
interplanetary oxygen leak. Very pleasant reverberating sounds. Imagine a huge
set of gongs and a reverb multiprocessor and maybe you get the impression how
it sounds.
The Bigots (Bigots, POBox 152, Campbell, Australia 2612) "What do you think you're gonna do
about it?": the australian Active Minds? Never. Saw them live and
liked it a lot, tight duo with fast aggression. Hope they still are rocking the
different clubs and basements. Nothing bad to say about bands that sing about
vegetarianism and and other approved topics. Nothing really new, but still
thrilling and fresh. Pretty rocking stuff!
Declaration of Santo II (Wittmannstrasse

Bormoth from Wiesbaden and Inox Kapell from Wiesbaden. Easy listening
electronica with lot of funny interactions and improvised bits and performance.
Colorfull evening for sure with insects, aliens, toy-instruments and cheap synths
and drummachines.
Urknall Tonquelle (Inox Kapell,
Wielandstr. 4, 65187 Wiesbaden, Germany - inoxkapell@gmx.net)
C.O.Caspar/ Inox Kapell is maybe an ambient-collaboration between these two
projects or something. Extremely slowly progressing changes in sound and moods,
with a minimal beauty and shiny simpleness. mostly percussive late in the night
sounds. 8 sonx but basically it is a long drone that is seperated in pieces
afterwards. * "Das Rhythmusboxen des
Ambientinox" 12 ambient dada-neue deutsche welle polka, bossanova
rhythmical tribal stuff sonx, pretty uncomplicated, fresh and astonishing in
the effect. * Shrebbl a gogo "zukunftsmusik"

Praying for Oblivion (c/o
final judgement ov the great oblivion, PoBox 22103, Nashville, TN., 37202-2103,
USA ) "Swans Song" 5 sonx
of distructured and distorted collapsing soundworlds, harsh power electronics
industrial. I liked the sonx most with the psychotic and wailing screams and
voice.
MSBR& blazen y sharp (MSBR rec., 2-2-12-101 Hanegi Setagaya, Tokyo
156, Japan - http://www.msbr.com or
Gender-less Kibbutz, PoBox 158469, Nashville, TN, 37215 USA.- http://intrasuoni.da.ru/genderless - gender_less@hotmail.com) "Mass for dead Insects" A
collaborative and split work by msbr and Blazen Y Sharp. Sounds are dark
atmospheric noise ambient. Mixture of msbr's electronics and BYS's metal
acoustic sctratching noise.
KGB-NK, Amfissis 5, 26331 Patras, Greece - "Aliens on Earth" 22 fine songs with synth-melodies,
really structered and song-orientated stuff, even with lyrics and chorus and
that kind of stuff. lot of nice textures and sounds to discover. Write and ask
what is up.
Anemone Tube (auf abwegen, pobox 100152, 50441 cologne, germany - info@aufabwegen.com - http://www.aufabwegen.com) :existence. On this limited
edition CD (lim. 500) that comes in friendly red-orange colors you find finally
some more music of the german industrialnoise act Anemone Tube, that is
currently not active anymore in recording music, but as label and distribution
(anemonetube@transformed.de
- http://www.transformed.de). you
get here 7 songs of high-quality rise and decay soundscapes in some way tending
to the darker sides of our existence maybe. like the title maybe existence
is not only a joke but a really serious matter and as i know stefan all through
these years i can say that he surely goes into the deep. carefully
constructed collapsing soundwalls with lot of facets to discover each time you
gonna listen to this silver jewel.
manufracture (this is a nomadic artist and label-manager, so no stable
address at the moment: http://noiseweb.com/hermit
- hermit@noiseweb.com) Hermit "Demo" offers you a fine range of evil sound installation
in praha (surely performed in a dracula costume), karaoke noise style cut-up,
even a bit minimal klicks and klacks, some painfull violin treatments. half
live and half diy-recorded at the legendary trash-land squat. * Hermit &
Thirdorgan collab. "dead-tech
machine gallery" starts with the classic "pain machine" by the fine canadian noise-artist, dark
slow pulsating rhythmical industrial i would call it, lasting more than 10
mins. so it cannot be a harsh noise attack. after that 5 more sonx ranging from
ambient soundscapes to mean distructured noise. You get two collabs. the rest
is done by the two artists alone. You always can hear that the apocalypse is
near. * Noisegate "as we were walking"
features a live interpretation of that 30 mins. song, the opening piece of Suspended Animation Ambient. Very loong
drones and reverberating soundscapes, with lot of changes in dynamics. Might be
a soundtrack for a film about a long journey through the endlessness of the
space (if you want to escape this ugly planet again...). * Man is the Bastard:Bastard Noise: "Selected pathways to undisclosed
planets: live" starts first with a very long ode to the futurists.
beeping, oscillators going wild, abused effect pedals, feedbacks, machine guns
and computer gamesounds, in some way the typical sound BN always creates.
Remains interesting enough.
Bar La Muerte (Bruno
Dorella, v.Gioia 82, 20125 Milano, Italy - bdorell@tin.it
- http://www.barlamuerte.com) Ovo "assassine" the infamous free-form music impro-duo from
northern italy is teamed up with the help of Claudio Parodi (cheap electronix),
Hermit (electronic, screams), Eleonora Parapietro (trumpet), Jacopo Andreini
(sax and drums), Capoccia (drums, metals). Nice morbid but still colourfull
drawings and music that has no boundaries and real definition.* Allun "et sise" four-wymyn using typewriter, mixer, toy-instruments
and a big dose of musical imagination and creativity in order to create an
almost free-jazz soundcollage without all that academic aspects that make
free-jazz unthrilling. One could label it no wave too, but every label does not
fit and is a reduction for this broad definition of musickal art. * Allun "onussen" (co-released by:
One-Touch rec.Monopolka, c/o Philipp Wolokitin 199106, Opochinina 5-20 St.
Petersburg, Russia - trilobit@mailru.com)
dear marylise sent me this CD that again is fucken hard to describe with my
reduced knowledge about the elaborated words of english language, and i don't
want to look up every second word in the dictionary... Well, this one is way
more aggressive than the previous one, more climaxing to the extreme delirium,
outof-head improvisation, nice screams, nice noises and powerfull drumming.
again free as music can be. 17 sonx with different moods and surely not
written-down notes. Maybe the words and singing is improvised too. Should find
a bit concentration to listen to it carefully, normally i am running around
like a manic berserk and cannot concentrate a fuck. So I cannot write a decent
review now, but this is for sure not music to relax too. In the extreme it
makes your miserable life even more complicated, and pushes you one more step
closer to the abyss, but it might save your life as well in the next moment.
Bartles (Bartles, PoBox 106, Livonia Center NY, 14488, USA) sent me his
42nd release, this might obviously be another lie, but i am sure that john b.
is jamming already for years through cigaret-smoke bars and
whisky-speakeasy-venues with his prominent crew of musicians. still they
decide to play some sort of party-music for a good time, singing about poop and
other banal things, with lot of humor and passion. if bukowski would have
had a musical blues side-project it might have sounded like this. i like
it in some way, mister bartles is for sure a good storytelling guy.
Dissecting Table (Ichiro Tsuji, 6-10-1, Rakurakuen Saiki-ku, Hiroshima,
Japan - upddt@ba2.so-net.ne.jp - http://www02.so-net.ne.jp/~dissect/)
"DeadZone". Being a little
admirer of Dissecting Table's morbid aesthetics and threatening conceptual
industrial-noise, I was thrilled to get this copy as promotion (no, i don't
distribute CDs...). Sometimes it is raging death-grindgrowling mixed with
driving metal percussion, sometimes it is slow-part ambience before the
nightmare continues again. The 4 songs last mostly more than 10 mins. without
many flaws and that is a good sign. Mostly it seems to catch the
horror-atmosphere of the slaughterhouses, decaying bodies, death and
threatening violence. Good basis for your selfmade splatter-horror-movie. 1300

Dhyana (Bernd Spring, Rosenaustrasse 16, 86150 Augsburg, Germany - dhyana@dhyanarecords.com - http://www.dhyanarecords.com) "Fluffy props in realtion to the
gist" (C45-Tape or CD-R) (3EUR / 3$): An international strike for
singularity. With: Amanda A. Hendricks (digitally edited bird songs as
soundinstallation), Ove-Naxx (Ragga from Japan), Rose For Bohdan (quasi-rock),
Gang Wizard (indi rocks!), Logan Bros., Andreas Stoiber (electronics), Big City
Orchestra (ya know em from da charts!), Nhlsm (cureclone from swizz), Bantu
Mantra & JesusJackson (it grooves!), Grrzzz (French activities!), Der
Unsichtbare (technoid somethings!), Toshi Hiraoka (me and my japanese piano!),
JesusJackson und die grenzlandreiter (no more compilations without them!),
Chaos No Future (fucked-up german punk). Comes with a nice but
small booklet.
(more relaxed
than manic Semi Sweet). Bernd
receives often very interesting projects and you cannot beat his fresh humor
and taste. Always good source for new discoveries.
Black Faction (PoBox 27, SWDO, Manchester, M16 9ES, UK - andydiey@appleonline.net - http://www.alchemyaudiolab.com) "Internal dissident Part 1"
from soleilmoon Rec., PoBox 83296, Portland OR 97283, USA - http://soleilmoon.com) "Internal
Dissident Part 1" - "Think of the epic poem "The Divine Comedy", by Alighierei. It describes the
poet's imaginary journey through Hell and up toward Purgatory. Now imagine how
that would sound filtered through the musical mind of a contemporary sound
designer and Mancunian electronica artist. But this is not all, the sound
designer takes you also to other soundtravel and you pass Arabia, Afghanistan,
Persia, Odessa (a couple of bows to mighty Mr. Muslimgauze), back to Dante and
his Hell & Purgatory. 9 tracks that have nice sounds to offer, that are
often creating a really special mood, but sometimes it comes a bit too smooth,
often you are not getting rid of the feeling that you are in a super-produced
picture, with very well constructed and highly-calculated sounds. This is for
sure quality, but sometimes lacks the astonishing effect, it might be a bit
predictable what comes next, especially with the beat-orientated stuff, but
still a good recording to pass a rainy sunday afternoon with or to start the
week.
Plod (Plod, 25 rue du bon pasteur, 69001 Lyon, France - plodmail@yahoo.fr - http://mp3.com/plod) "Pérave l'ornithorynque déplaçable" very intense and
capable french trio playing breakbeat, two-step, foonky stuff instrumentally
with violin, viola and drums. had the pleasure to set up a gig for them
in zurich and the audience really went berserk.
2/5BZ (serhat@2-5bz.com - http://2-5bz.com) "Ulonbay" this guy from istanbul does a very good
mix of traditional turkish instruments, cut-ups from turkish films and cheasy
music stuff. all with a very nice of psychedelic touch and
treatment. you also get some wild improvisations and session here.
G.Las (http://noiseweb.com/hermit
- hermit@noiseweb.com) "compile". very cool cut-up
adventures put together by master gunnar himself, and if you know his works you
know what to expect from this guy who admires muslimgauze: with a good ear for
details and a good taste of strange but in some way never overburden
combinations of different soundsources you start for a travel through many
different regions. i liked this that much that i decided to re-release it
on my gürteltiertapes-label as a tape.

Tudosok (http://www.index.hu/tudosok - tudosok@index.hu) "scientists" this is jazzy stuff combined with madness
and poetry. normally i don't get the humor becuz it lays in the wise words
sung in a foreign language. this is for sure a twisted approach to
entertain people on a high level.

Heavy use of software bugs and 2-bit digital degraders create hypnotic rhythm
patterns and tortured melodies. Strange vocals and lyrics remind us of our
insane behaviour towards food. Everything is Euro5, $6, £3,5 or CareWare. You can subscribe for four records

welkom (Melodikrecords, PoBox 172,
8820 Waedenswil, Switzerland - w443376@planet.ch) "homebites" comes with an
extreme variation in styles, you get 80ies style electropop (sounding a bit
like New Order for example), fragile guitar-ballads, hip-hop carpets, you even
have something like a donald duck voice ranting about, most of the tracks are
driving electronica stuff though.
Aequatorkälte (http://www.sensitivewormrile.net -
sensitivewormrile@yahoo.de) is
what i call extreme slow progressive ambient. Kutter gave me 2 of his works and
it is always great to listen to them, especially late at night with no other
human noises around. There is something mysterious and dreamy about "cluster rhythms walk"&
"Stachelhaut". Sonx lasting around 20 mins. each.
Neus-318 comp. vol.7 (Neus-318,c/o Kazuya Ishigami,

Skamstötten gave me this CD-sampler with mainly harshnoise and (power)
electronic on it: Radio Beirut, Palsecam, Daruin, Ames Sanglantes, Sistrum,
Moz, Skamstotten, G.I.& the Spykes,Zanisect. At least you get conatcts of
all bands, but presentation and information is a bit poor nowadays...
Ole Lukkye (klangbad, Ertingerstr. 45, 88525 Dürmentingen, Germany - info@klangbad.de - http://www.klangbad.de) "DooDooDoo" is a re-release of this russian psychedelic
Ethno Trance band from St. Petersburg. This professional band toured in Germany
and in Austria and I am pretty sure that they found their public. For my taste
and interest they are "too big", I don't know if they are
"commercial" since I never was in contact with them personally. Their
colorfull but a bit innocent music is designed for a bigger audience than the
underground has to offer.
Histerezis Mozga "Kaa Mozat..."
3"CD (Rastoder Damir, Vojvode Stepe 27/1, 36000 Kraljevo, Yugoslavia hmozga@yahoo.com) offer you 9 powerfull
noise-grind industrial tunes with computer and guitar and mean growling. I can
definitely hear a progress in their music, it is way more tighter than their
more chaotic tape-splits before.

complication #27, (postfach 301130, 04251 Leipzig, Germany - schlafpunx@antisocial.org) has been
really active in this year putting out tapes and stuff and is one of my
favourite labels, especially because of the handmade and unique packages: Schlafpunx
"Lethargie" is Florian's
solo-thingie and after the huge battle to get the tape out of the glued box you
can enjoy (or not) 30 mins. of strange soundcollages, distant voices and
echoed noises. The mood is not really "happy party- good drugs". More
like big city depression or general life crisis. Limited to 15 pieces and
a jewel. # "Thelectrick Idiots" is one of my favourite tapes from
this year. Maybe it is deconstruction of disco-pop, but it preserves the
thrilling aspects of "pop" and adds the ethics of lo-fi-noise to it.
Great stuff done (micha is ein Künstler!) on a 4-tracker with cheap
drummachine, synth and distorted vocals and jangly guitars, what does a poor
soul need more than that?! # Wrought:Ironsmile "the world is so complex" are from the west-coast of
Canaduh (from Vancouver to be precise) and play emotional music and i
always liked their musical art. maybe you get almost all the stuff they
released so far (even unreleased stuff!), all in all 90 mins. of music
when you decide to stay inside if it is raining outside or inside your head. # "In tyrannos" is a fine
compilation with mainly punk/hc bands, but every now and then you also get
those whacky and weird experimental projects that you hate. Best thing about
this comp. is that it is a benefit for "Totalverweigerer-Initiative"
(total objection of military/ civil service) so this tape has a good cause
besides of being just entertainment! # Slackism "Eitrige Erinnerungen" is also aural and visual art,
strange package with recycled paper and out-of-focus pictures. Maybe floh did
this tape in order to survive in that ugly city called Halle. Experimental
fragments of a grey-city life maybe. # "Der
hang zur verallgemeinerung" is a project between Olli and Floh and not
funny at all. One song consists in a scream repeated ad infinitum (as it seems)
plus feedback and effects, the other song just flows and creates not a really
happy mood. Also limited and be quick and ask for other stuff that is available
since Floh started a tape-only distribution as well, busy and super-nice guy!!!
# the latest thingie floh sent me was the highcut/nuggetLunch splittape: nice
spraypaint package, some kind of rocket or comet icon, made out of a reused
rolling tobacco bag, also rocketpictures inside. musically some twisted
mixture of breakbeat and chill-out madness, stolen samples from vinyl and
environment. paranoid schizophrenia? nuggetlunch@gmx.net exchanges cdR of
actual sound in order to transmit truth. write for truthchanging and
paranormal disaster listening. i gave it a listen a couple of times, and i
would listen to it whenever i feel antisocial (so pretty
often...). limited to 28 so you'd better hurry up! halle surely IS on
my mu-sickal map! # I almost forgot the 7" floh did by Istari
Lasterfahrer, my chaos of boxes and in my mind must be frightening...so you
find loops here, short samples, driving breakbeats & basslines, 5 sonx that
leave me confused, especially the almost instrumental I lose orientation and I don't
get really the 'message'. Sometimes I think there is something missing, some
sonx are very strong but there are also phases of flawness on this record.

Mince Core (Jan Frederickx, Asberg 8, 2400 Mol,
Belgium) has mainly grindcore stuff Jan's band Agathocles put out available for
fair prices, but there is also other stuff available. Jan is looking for the "A tradition of..." Comp. EP.
Can you help him?
no rekords (jan iwers, dorotheenstr. 5b/ 254, 30419 hannover, germany)
distributes experimental music and stuff he did as no and other collaborations.
always high standard of aesthetics and rather eccentric.
Rinderherz Records (Rinderherz Records, postfach 3634, 5001

Legastoplex No.0 (Legastoplex,
c/o Le Dorc, Hebebrandtstr. 2a,
in meiner Einsamkeit!
Head in the Clouds (Suckerpunch,
pobox 23045, athens 11210, greece - suckerpunch@mail.gr)
is a collection of shortstories Iason wrote in the last 9 years. Most of them
are cruel, sci_Fi, horror, gore shortstories about Blobs eating everything,
androids and this kind of stuff. Most of the stories left me a bit confused, I
cannot say it was an entertaining pleasure to read about such (sometimes not so
obvious) forms of violence. Yes, indeed, for my taste most of the stuff is a
tiny bit too violent for my weak nerves. Nevertheless, a good effort and some morbid hours guaranteed!
Frontberichterstattung vom alljährlichen Schrottbar Festival (nix neues...),
ist "härters most wanted" split
Dwelling Portably (LLL, POB 190-NXM, Philomath OR 97370, USA) is all
about diy of daily life, tips for travelling and to improvise and save costs, a
really good ressource of shared knowledge. People ordering DP from another
country should send something of value, if not money or their own zine, then
information that may be useful and publishable. $2 gets you a sample, 3$ gets
you 2 issues per year. I was overwhelmed by this informative dose of
information. Holly and Bert are also publishing the regular (?) Off the Beaten
Path newsletter, a guide to unusual Sources. Very inspiring stuff and highly
recommended!! They are especially interested in zines which deal with the
problems of crossing borders without hassles and in communicating across
borders without censorship or snooping.
Absurd #5 ( PoBox 63752, 15203 Vrilissia, Attiki, Greece - absurd@otenet.gr - http://www.anet.gr/absurd) might
formerly been known as Genital Grinder zine full of information about the
noiseheads paradise. Nicolas enthusiastic writing is really contagious, so you
really have a fanatic noisemaniac here writing about his passion. Many contacts
and reviews, it is cool to see such zines around. www.anet.gr/absurd/absurdities.htm is the new online effort with
reviews and news while you are waitng for the delayed #6. Very
informative and recommended!
Punkiges
Layout und immer an Beiträgen interessiert. Texte bitte über email: quartiergruppe_4und5@yahoo.de
Azmacourt#6 (Marc Parker, 1012 Townhouse Cir, Norman, OK 73069 - azmacourt@yahoo.com) is a cool ego-comic
about mark's complicated life between different cities (even coasts) and
different girlfriends, the endless and restless search for what one tries to find
or wants to find if one knows what to find. The drawingstlye is a bit minimal,
but most of the information lays in the text (Mark is surely a good writer), so
it is not a disadvantage. Mark is smoking pot so maybe we can explain the gaps
and leaps in the storyline. Mark is asthmatic too and so a lot of his health
problems influence this zine, and in the second section you receive lot of
detailed information, so that is shared experience or knowledge. I did not like
the poems really, but that is nothing new. Master Mark informed me that he did
#7 despite of having said that #6 would be the final, so it's also available
for a mere 1$ plus postage. And yes, you should get it!
Groink#5 (Groink, PMB 456, 4326 S.E. Woodstock Blvd., Portland, OR
97206-6270, USA - blake@slaphog.com - http://slaphog.com/groink/) is full of
conspiracy theories, apocalyptic fiction, comics, zine/music/comics reviews (DIY
only) and collage art. $2 ppd. or contribution of material for publication or
zine/CD/tape/comic in trade (which will also be reviewed). Each issue will be
40 pgs. What I really liked is the great cut'n'paste layout (texts written on
computer and put together in a wild collage-style). Some of the writing I did
not really understand (Email Confidant for example). The text about former
Gestapo agents being recruited for KGB and especially CIA (after-OSS) and thus
having the long term goal victory of the extreme (aryan) capitalist Elite over
all the people of the world, was a bit too short and I would have liked to have
more detailed information, but maybe this is a conspiracy theory too. Curious
to see more of these strange zines, I will try to send in my contribution,
hopefully.
A Reader's Guide to the Underground Press #17 (PMB 2386, 537
Jones, San Francisco, CA 94102, USA - http://www.undergroundpress.org)
used to be formerly the well-known and very informative Zine World zine. #17 is now available. This is a
not-to-miss issue. In addition to the 364 reviews, this issue features several
articles on the state of the nation, post-Sept. 11. It could all be yours for
the low price of $4 US, $5 Canada, or $6 overseas. Payable by cash, stamps, or
money order with "pay to the order of" left blank. No Checks! Zine World: A Reader's Guide, PO Box 330156, Murfreesboro TN 37133-0156, USA.

and Uruguay, articles on the genetic modification debate in Britain and urban
gentrification, censored news reports and body image, listings of cool distros,
hc notices and animal-derived additives, rants on animal rights, emo, and
gender politics, interviews with the SchNEWS newsletter, GAndALF defendant
Saxon Wood, god and Brazilian feminist punk band Dominatrix, reviews of books,
zines, music and hardcore festivals, surveys on human nature and worldwide
punk, DIY cooking, free patch, costs: UK/ Europe/ Developing World/ Developed

Satsuma #1 (Sara Schaefer, 502
Prospect Ave., Flr 3, Brooklyn, NY 11215, satsuma_zine@hotmail.com - http://www.yobobara.com) is basically
short-stories orientated, entertaininig and inspiring bits. There is an
article-something about sucking thumbs in adultry (well, I am sucking my
tongue, not thumb too, am I also in the club?). Some of the story-tellers are
more gifted than others, so you have a wide range of topics and niveau. A good
start I would say, and hopefully a good continuation...

fanxinoteka katalogoa (Napartheid,
127 PK, Trintxerpe-Pasaia, Gipuzkoa 20110, The Basque Country - zumalakarregi@yahoo.com - http://www.napartheid.org/fanxinoteka ) is a really cool katalog of their
fanzine-library. they have a project of setting-up a moving-touring library, so
get in contact if you want to exchange your zine with their Napartheid comic
zine made in Basque. Their homepage is not in function anymore, and email also
resulted with not an answer at all, but the address is still valid.
The East village inky#12 (Ayun
Halliday, PO Box 22754, Brooklyn NY, 11202-2754, USA - TheBigRumpus@hotmail.com - http://www.ayunhalliday.com) is a very
nice inky-sized zine about a mother of two children in New York, so don't be
surprised if you get very well-written stories about free ice cream, trips to
sunset Park or Coney Island, Brighton Beach and maybe an usefull description
how to make your own zine (well, some of the advices very okay, though, for
beginners...). A short reviewsection about zines and videos are also included.
What does make this zine special is Ayun's (hand)-writing and extremely cute
drawings and clever layout-technique. The really banal things like householding
problems or instructions for babysitters are written in a very amusing style,
so that what normally is not a big deal turns out to be a big deal. 2$ plus
postage i guess. also available now: The Big Rumpus (Seal Press, 2002); ISBN #
1580050719; Distributed by Ingrams and Publishers Group West. Bet Ayun's wry observations on daily life
validate the complex, absurd wondrousness of being the unpaid caregiver of
small children.
Sex, Death and Ronald MacDonald Jan.
2001 (Vermicious Knid, PoBox 194, Accokeek, Md 20607, USA) is a really thin
(4 A4size) zine about artwork, poems and some reprinted flyers. Nice chaos
layout, but most of the poems did not really tell me anything at all. Trade or
money, i don't know. Normally it is not thin as that I think, the maker of this
fine collection was stressed out by moving (and we all know what that
means...).
Muuna Takeena#8 (Timo Palonen, Oritie 4 C 24, 01200 Vantaa,
Finland - palonen@mbnet.fi) is one of my favourite
review zines, since Mr. Palonen always has a good joke or sarcastic vision of
things. Usually I think he is enjoying his life with a beercan in his hands,
turned on T.V. and nothing to worry about or a night at the local bar. But I
guess he often gets in his sleeping-room, listens to the strange music he
receives from all around the globe, he reaches for a zine that lays in a big
heap of fabulous zines. I guess Mr. Palonen likes zines more than he likes
music. Especially he does not like experimental/ collage music. He also is very
picky about poems I guess. This time not much artwork beside from some bits and
a comic. Always a very good dose of information (I even got kicked in the ass
to contact some people due to some reviews...). Send in your stuff as a trade
or send him chocolate. Comes with a supplement about zines in Finland. * Also
available: "Well, I don't think
so" with 20 poets. Since Timo did not really send me a copy of it yet
I cannot judge if the poets should be burnt in the streets when found or not.
Maybe one should drown half of them slowly. 3$ or trade.
Gaze into a gloom #1 june 2001(Giag,
pobox 15, riga, LV-1011, Latvia - giag@mail.ru)
is a pro-produced free-magazine from Latvia focussed on industrial, ambient,
noise and power electronics and related styles (even gothic). Comes with
detailed interviews with Kirlian Camera (sometimes labelled as right-wing
industrial, becuz one main member is fascinated by nazi-aesthetics and never
denied his supposed involvement in the extreme-right movement, the other member
is left-wing communist), Institut (swedish power electronics), Leutha (Italian
dark ambient, folk & electronics), Whitehouse (of course everybodies
darlings?, lame and short answers by William Bennett), Raison d'etre (swedish
magic soundscapes), the rest is a big review section of many different releases
and stuff. Is it underground? Send postage or tell them you want it to
distribute.

Newland #3 (Yannick/Nederrij
84/2200 Herentals/Belgium - or e-mail your material at: vuur@vt4.net(stef)) it is about the highest time that we do
something constructive on a literary level. A long time after doing NewLand #1

Of course, we are not going to fill it. You are! So take your chance &
write something down. We'll do the rest. If you send something in, please do it
in English (the world is not just me & you!) & give the piece a little

Phantom #10- #12 (Phantom, c/o
B.Setzer, Schreinerstr.
Martin the Satanic Racoon #1/ #2(preview) (Satanic Racoon Press, 1212 N. Cole Ave. #4,
Hollywood, CA 90038, USA - martin@satanicracoon.com -
http://www.satanicracoon.com) tells you how to commit armed robbery
without having to worry about those nasty police standoffs, how to get money
out of animal-right activists, shit bombing, fun with the bible (indeed in the
bible you have lot of sex and violence!), you even get explained the word
"mung", tells you the advantages to starting your own religion, tells
you even then the truth about aliens, gives a salute to Andrew Cunanan (Versace
killer), a bit about failed suicide attempts (there's more in famous Answer
Me#3). A big collection in bad taste, very welldrawn by an intelligent
metalhead (this happens not quite often!), you even get those silly guys
dressed with t-shirts with undecipherable evil t-shirts. This might offend you,
but for me it was a lot of fun! also available the "Martin Millennial Calendar"
for the year 2000, full of conspiracy theories, serial killings and other
strange shit. 2$ plus postage.
SUBH #35 (Andreas Reiffer,

Parasol Post #15-#18 (24, Marfitt Street, Leicester, LE4 6RN, UK - hfbj_parasol@hotmail.com - http://tatooine.fortunecity.com/simak/97/index.html ) used or maybe still is the
physical proof of existence of the autonomous astronauts association. I lost
contact to them and I still don't know if they are serious about it. Neoismus
and situationism plus mail-art and more.
Korrigan #2/ #3 (Korrigan, Ch.
Dawnbreed, Unhinged, No Looking Back/ Carcrash Rec., ABC No Rio, Richard
Kern. $3 ppd. #3 with Breves, Isis, Unfold, Starsixtynine, Stack, two
articles about zineculture in switzerlanth, Snuff Rec., Small Budget Prod.,
Children, Chris Jensen, The Promise Ring and reviews. For a zine that is
basically layouted with computer it is still pretty nice-looking and you get
lot of information and news. These zines came out a long time ago and I don't
know if they are still doing that zine. For HC-folks with knowledge of french
language surely worth checking out.
kratzspuren (erna hasselbeck
kommando, amandastr.
Gedanken.
Greenpepper Magazine(Postbus 94115,
1090 GC Amsterdam, The Netherlands, greenpep@eyfa.org - http://squat.net/cia/gp/hom.php)
was received a long time ago. Current
issue is about the Convention on Biodiversity and a collaboration with
Resistance is Fertile! to provide a more critical perspective on the UN
conference of Parties on the Convention on Biodiversity taking place in Den
Haag in April 2002.
Scraps of Paper No. 8 (Scraps of
Paper, 1355 46th Ave., San Francisco, 94122-1112, USA - scrapsofpaper@The_Haters.zzn.com)
is a newspaper-zine of free-thought, by freethinkers, for free-thinkers. Noise,
industrial and this kind of stuff. From the family of the Haters I guess with
an article about a square wheel car, pictures about found rusty&dead cars,
written and graphical stuff, what can make noise culture interesting. free for
postage?
Stop!-publicity release no.1 (sparetime
activities, c/o dead fly/ audiophil rec., pobox 4307, 6002 luzern, luzern,
unzugänglich vom verdichteten Lyrischen her.
Wohl ein bisschen Emo, was?!
In Darkness, there is no choice #6 (Ian
Thomas, 4 Cumber Drive, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 6DZ, UK - ian.indarkness@lineone.net) the
typical @-punk zine with interviews this time featuring Contravene, Unfair?,
World On Welfare, Avaricious, MDM, The Mob, articles and reviews etc. 45p. plus
postage. Okay read, but nothing really special though.
Tuntentinte Nr. 20 (Redaktion
Tuntentinte, Schaufelderstr.
Auseinandersetzung was jetzt Porno, Erotik usw. ist.
Romp #20 (Romp Imperium, PoBox

Aesthetics, Geld oder Leben, Alarm Tour-Bericht, Squatter-Szene Zürich, WEF,
Augenschein in Mostar, Anarcho-Punk Treffen in Mexico.
Porto wohl.
The Neo-Comintern Magazine #4 (Joel Katelnikoff, 97 Maxwell Crescent,

"filled with writings of an unusual/ experimental nature, featuring the
genres of Musings, Delvings into Philosophy, Flights of Fancy, Freefall
Selections and Tales of General Mirth. Their mandate is to promote free

as it seems!!

+++ compatriot martin gut is active in different stuff like painting, drawing and

Feathered Friends#3 (Sasha
Mihajlowich, Balkanska 48, 11000 Beograd, Yugoslavia - smihaylowich@sezampro.yu) is a very
well-drawn minicomic, that combines immense tragedy with light humor. Already
the first story about a boy with incurable illness, suppressed by his cousin
and guardian mrs. de ropp, is pretty heavy and has a dramatic ending, at least
the next story is funny (but still violent), where Baz and Martin try to sell
beverage for love at first sight to snails. The third is about meeting a friend
who is always looking for other people to say hello and neglecting the date,
this was for sure the most funny story. Then follow 6 strips that even have
been published in an independent newspaper, still not really funnies, compelted
by a 2 panel comic with the following text: "I live in a small village
called Belgrade. But this is not how it looks! - This is how Belgrade looked
during the bombing, while people resorted to the advice in this graffito".
first you have an idyllic picture followed by a dull, hopeless picture. Sasha
likes to experiment with styles and I am really curious to see more of this
deepthought comix. 3$ ppd.(?) Back issues are still available.
Plot Thickens#2 (Slab-O-Concrete,
PoBox 148, Hove, BN3 3DQ, UK - mail@slab-o-concrete.demon.co.uk)
was sent to me eternities ago and although I did read it a couple of times I
did not really get some of the comics or punch(story)lines. Mostly about bands
that are extremely p.c. but totally contoversial. The strip about the vampire
attacking the maid and being interrupted by their mobiles is very good and
funny, but the access to the other stuff was really not easy for me. Maybe I
lost my imagination and intellectual knowledge through overconsumption of
gene-manipulated soya products or large quantities of liquid drugs. 36 pgs.,
full colour cover£1.75 (+25p p&p inside UK, overseas £1) or 4$

Decades of confusion feed the insect#27 (218 Buckingham Pl., Philadelphia PA 19104 - eulogycontact@hotmail.com - http://www.eulogyphiladelphia.com)
is a very nice artzine with texts combined with copy-art, drawings of surreal
nature, semi-religious stuff (?), manipulation and different techniques. From
the aesthetic point of view at least appealing and attractive, with tragic
undertones. Life is not easy, if you already made this experience...$2 by mail
plus postage. In the meantime time passed and the latest issue is #31,
backissues are always available for 3$ppd.

Gerald Fiebig "Rauschangriff"
Jedenfalls nichts, was einen
Each "The Books of Ares: A Revolution" Madison Morrison, Dept.
of English National Taiwan Normal University, E. Hoping Rd., Sec. 1, No. 162,
Taipei 10610, Taiwan - madison_morrison@attglobal.net)
is what I call cut-up writing. The writer is jumping from one scenary to the
other as if he is sitting in a time-machine, doing (cultural)historical
excurses all the time, maybe he is always drinking large quantities of wine,
his writing is of an associative nature, making references all the time and
setting up relations while expanding time dimensions. This is one sequence of
MM's 26 book cosmological epic, Sentence of the Gods. Maybe this needs a
re-reading or more, or a certain state of mind so that one gets the meaning of
this epic. Nevertheless I enjoyed reading this text especially because of the
high-eductated language and witty irony.
The Sensitivity Test (Jeffrey
Oliver, 436 Sterling Place #17, Brooklyn, NY, 11238 USA - words@jeffreyoliver.com - http://www.jeffreyoliver.com) find its
way into my pobox and after a couple of years later it is of course sold out.
Jeffrey is even a bit embarassed about it, as it seems. Online you get articles
and fiction if you want to read brand new stuff. Still had no time to check it
out, but the stories i have read in Sensitivity Test have been of decent
quality.

Emmaz (Emmaz, BM Active, London,
WC1N 3XX, UK - info@emmaz.org.uk - http://www.emmaz.org.uk) should be an
anarchist social centre and permanent autonomous zone. We are about to register
the club as an IPS with the Registry of Friendly Societies and are beginning to
look for premises. Once registered we can apply to join Radical Routes,
approach potential lenders and issue loan stock. We are starting to plan an
estimate of the clubs income and expenditure in order to form a more definite
idea of of how much we can expect to borrow. Along with this we need agreed
membership policies, clear aims and objectives. And members.
